About Me

My name is Drew Crichton. I am not a pro-athlete.  I haven’t completed ultra-marathons or incredible feats of cycling endurance (although I have completed the Fred Whitton on a number of occasions, for which I’m quite proud).

I am simply a keen amateur runner and cyclist, both on tarmac and on trail….hence the name!  I’m just like thousands of other folk around the world….looking to explore and experience my environment, and be satisfied by the knowledge that I may have improved my health and understanding along the way.

I love to draw and research routes, get out and follow them, and then reflect upon my experiences.  I started this blog to share those experiences of the places that I visit, the fun I have and the lessons I learn.  I hope it may inspire others to follow the same tarmac and trails and enjoy the world as I do….

On a personal level, I am married to Zoe with three kids, Florrie, Martha and Jess, and two dogs, Tilly and Lottie.  Although Crohns Disease took me away from a sixteen year career as an osteopath, it has given me the opportunity to do more of the things I love…spending time with family as well as running and cycling in the great outdoors….
